A Journey to the Western Islands of Scotland (A Voyage to the Western Islands of Scotland) was first published in 1775. It is the remarkable journal of Samuel Johnson's 83-day journey through Scotland during the late summer and autumn of 1773. Johnson, then 63 years old, made the journey in the company of his friend and later biographer, James Boswell .

We set the book in Monotype Bell and Monotype Bulmer fonts, undoubtedly popular in Great Britain in the late 1780s. We printed it on Fabriano Tiepolo cotton paper.

The binding was hand-made and provided with a case. The edges of the block were colored in accordance with 18th-century fashion.
