The War with Catiline That is Catiline's War , also known as Catiline's Conspiracy (pour. De coniuratione Catilina e or Bellum Catilinae ) is the first history published by the Roman historian Sallust. It is a chronicle of Catiline's attempted overthrow of Roman rule in 63 BC, most likely written between 44 and 40 BC, 20 years after the events described.
The story begins with a brief introduction on the nature of man, history, and a brief autobiography by Sallust himself. Then the historian describes Catiline himself and presents his political ambitions. Catiline is, in Sallust's opinion, an enemy of law, order, and morality. He is a model for all the behaviors that the writer considers to be destructive to Rome.
The book is published in English and is based on the 1921 translation by the American Latinist historian John C. Rolfe (1859–1943).
The War with Catiline (Catiline's War) is a certain departure from the canon of books we have published so far. It is modeled on books published by The Doves Press, which existed in the years 1900–1916.
The work was typed Doves Roman and printed on cotton paper Fabriano Tiepolo. Format 8 vo (162.5×250), volume 112 pp. Hand-made binding by Sabina Mozga using paper from Magdalena Jurkiewicz's studio. Marbled edges of the block.
