Collection: Bruno Kicinski

Brunon Kiciński was a Polish poet, translator, journalist and publisher, active in the first half of the 19th century. He was born in 1800, and his work fell into the period of Romanticism, although he also showed interests in classicism. He was one of the key figures of Polish literary life of those years, involved in both writing and publishing activities.

Kiciński was one of the writers associated with Warsaw and co-founded the first Polish literary magazines. He was one of the founders and editors of "Gazeta Codzienna" and "Kalendarz Polski i Ruski", and also served as the first editor of "Kurier Warszawski", which played an important role in shaping public opinion in the Kingdom of Poland. As a journalist and publicist, he influenced the development of the Polish press market in the pre-uprising period.

Apart from his journalistic work, Kiciński also translated and edited literature. He translated works by ancient poets, including Sappho, and contemporary European authors. His interests also extended to Romantic literature, and his own poetic work included both verses and occasional poems.

Kiciński died in 1844. Although his work has not survived in popular memory, his publishing and press activity had a significant influence on the development of Polish literature and journalism in the 19th century.
