François de La Rochefoucauld, Francis VI, Duke of La Rochefoucauld (born 1613, died 1680) – French politician, courtier, soldier, writer, memoirist and philosopher.
He spent a significant part of his life at the French court. He took an active part in the Fronde's struggles against the young Louis XIV. After retiring from politics, he took up writing. He included his reflections on human nature in the collection Maxims and Moral Considerations (1664).
