William Shakespeare (born probably 23 April 1564, baptised 26 April 1564, in Stratford-uponAvon, died 23 April?/3 May 1616 there) – English poet, playwright, actor. Widely regarded as one of the greatest writers in English literature. He was one of the few playwrights who successfully created both comedies and tragedies.

It is assumed that he wrote a total of 38 plays, 154 sonnets, as well as many works of other genres. Experts believe that he wrote most of his works between 1586 and 1612.
