Stefan Zweig (1881–1942) was an Austrian writer, essayist, and biographer, known for his masterful psychological portraits. His books, such as Marie Antoinette and Fouché , enjoyed enormous popularity.
Giacomo Casanova (1725–1798) was a Venetian traveler, writer, diplomat, and adventurer. His famous Memoirs ( Histoire de ma vie ) have become the basis for numerous studies and legends about his love affairs and turbulent life. In his biography, Zweig presents Casanova not only as a seducer, but also as a brilliant intellectual and a man of extraordinary charisma.
