Mikhail Bulgakov completed Fatal Eggs in October 1924. It is a hilarious parody of a catastrophe novel set in the realities of Lenin's Soviet Union. An eccentric scientist discovers rays that multiply the activity, aggressiveness and size of living organisms. As a result of a mistake, dangerous exotic reptiles multiply.

The book was printed on cylindrical cotton paper by Fabriano Tiepolo in an edition of 30 copies.

The text was based on the 1928 edition and was set in a typeface Monotype Perpetua , an electronic version of the fonts cut by Eric Gill  circa 1929 for Monotype Corporation.

Rambler Press also published Diaboliada Mikhail Bulgakov.
