Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure (popularly known as Fanny Hill) is an erotic novel by English writer John Cleland, first published in London in 1748. Written while the author was in debtors' prison in London, it is widely considered to be "the first original English prose pornography and the first pornography to use the form of a novel". It is also one of the most persecuted and banned books in history.
Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure has been in our publishing plans for a long time . Some time ago we wrote on our blog about an extremely rare edition Memoirs… John Cleland from 1781. A copy is located in the University Library in Warsaw.
This news encouraged us to prepare Ramblerowa edition of popular memoirs Fanny Hill.
The book, like the original from 1748, was published in two volumes on Century Laid cotton paper and set with the Monotype Bell font.
We illustrated the whole thing with graphics from the French translation of the book. Cleland published in 1776
