The Corsair - George Byron's poem was published in 1814 in London by John Murray and immediately achieved extraordinary success among readers.

Byron tells the story of a Greek pirate named Conrad who attacks Seyd, a Turkish ruler. During this event, he saves Gulnara, the queen of the harem, who makes him dependent on her. The work is the result of the poet's travels in Greece in 1809-1811.
